PRIDE & PREJUDICE

This is a 2005 British film directed by Joe Wright. It has a dramatic romantic style and is based on Jane Austen's novel from 1813.

ARGUMENT:

    This movie is about five sisters (Jane, Elizabeth, Lydia, Mary and Kitty) who live with their parents in a small town called Longbourn. Her mother wants to marry her two older daughters as soon as possible, but they hope to find a man who really loves them. When the wealthy Mr. Darcy moves with his friend Bingles to their village, a great welcome dance is held. There he meets Jane and Elizabeth. Do you think anything will happened between them or Mr. Darcy's coldness won't allow it?

ANALYSIS:

Jane Austen's main achievement is to convey a perfect image of the British society at the turn of the century, below appearances and prejudices.

AWARDS:

This film has won awards such as: Best Now Filmmaker, Satellite Award, among others. It has also been nominated for the Oscar Award, Golden Globes and BAFTA Awards.
